Kovack Leads Huskies to Win

KUTZTOWN -- Tom Kovack (Croydon/Conwell-Egan Catholic) scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Kutztown University on Tuesday.

The first half was scoreless despite the Huskies holding a 14-7 edge in shots. Bloomsburg finally broke into the scoring column in the game's 59th minute when Christian Rota (Langhorne/Neshaminy) fired in a loose ball from six yards out.

It stayed 1-0 until the 82nd minute when Otis Queh (Coatesville/Coatesville) took a crossing pass from Kovack and beat the Golden Bears goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

The Huskies put the game out of reach when Kovack scored two and a half minutes later for a 3-0 Bloomsburg lead.

Overall, Bloomsburg outshot Kutztown, 26-11, and held in the edge in corner kicks, 9-4. Bloomsburg goes to 1-7-1 overall and 1-6 in the PSAC, while Kutztown falls to 1-8, 0-7 in the PSAC.

The Huskies are idle till Saturday when they host West Chester at 3:30 p.m.
